Project Overview
The Tianwanhe Cascade Hydropower Retrofit Project was implemented in phases from 2020 to 2025 across the Renzonghai, Jinwo, and Dafa stations. The one-reservoir, three-stage cascade includes 6 high-head impulse units with a total retrofit capacity of 760 MW.
NSD Electric supplied 6 sets of MGC2000 impulse-unit governor systems, 6 sets of IAEC4000 fully digital excitation systems, the full LDS-200 cascade control platform, site LCUs for all three stations, and a remote dispatch monitoring system. The work also included staged installation, cascade joint commissioning, and long-term technical support.
The project enables coordinated multi-station operation, higher water-resource utilization, and stronger supply reliability, setting a new benchmark for cascade hydropower control modernization.
