On August 12, NSD Electrical hosted a public-interest vocal wellness workshop for female employees at the company’s headquarters. The event aimed to support women’s physical and emotional well-being while helping them manage the pressures of work and daily life.
The workshop was held under the guidance of the Hongshan District Women’s Federation and jointly organized by the Hongshan Economic Development Zone Women’s Federation, the Zone Federation of Trade Unions, and the NSD Electrical Trade Union.
Learning Healthier Ways to Breathe and Relax
The session was led by Yan Dongkui, a soprano who graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. With extensive experience in vocal performance, voice care, and music-based rehabilitation, she has long worked with medical institutions, women’s federations, and organizations supporting people with disabilities to promote scientific vocal techniques and emotional well-being.
During the workshop, Yan explained how prolonged stress and shallow breathing may affect the heart and lungs, emotional health, and posture. Based on the daily working habits of professional women, she demonstrated abdominal breathing techniques and guided participants through simple exercises to relax the shoulders and neck, improve posture, and ease physical tension.

Releasing Stress Through Music
The practical session combined gentle music with vocal exercises. Yan demonstrated proper breath control through complete songs and corrected common habits such as straining the voice, holding the breath, and forcing sound from the throat.
Participants followed the melodies and practised humming with steady breathing. The relaxed singing exercises helped them release stress while improving awareness of their breathing, voice, and posture.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with employees actively participating and sharing their experiences of managing stress and maintaining well-being. Many participants said the workshop provided simple breathing and relaxation methods that could be easily used in everyday life.
NSD Electrical has always paid close attention to the practical needs and well-being of its female employees. Moving forward, the company’s trade union will continue working with women’s federations and trade union organizations to provide health education, psychological support, cultural activities, and other employee care programmes.
Through these initiatives, NSD Electrical hopes to encourage employees to care for their health, develop effective ways to manage stress, and approach both work and life with greater confidence, balance, and energy.
